A significant milestone in strengthening India’s public health workforce was achieved by National Centre for Disease Control Delhi with the expansion of the Intermediate Field Epidemiology Training Programme (I-FETP) through a collaborative network of 14 partner institutions across the country. Supported under PM-ABHIM, the expanded programme is training around 250 public health professionals, creating a larger cadre of skilled field epidemiologists to strengthen disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, emergency response, and evidence-based public health action. The programme is being implemented in collaboration with NIPHTR Mumbai, AIIHPH Kolkata, NIHFW New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS Gorakhpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Mangalagiri, AIIMS Bhopal, SIHFW Rajasthan, PANPREP PHFI-IPHS Hyderabad, Guwahati Medical College, RIMS Imphal, ICAR-NIVEDI Bengaluru, and RHFWTC Meerut.
The National Centre for Disease Control successfully conducted a five-day Scientific Writing Workshop for EIS Officers (19–23 January 2026), aimed at strengthening the ability of field epidemiologists to translate public health evidence into high-quality scientific publications.
